Wooden Wonderfuls.

I love these.
There is something about these tiny hand-painted German figurines that says, "pure and innocent childhood" to me.
You can buy them here and here.

My grandmother "collected" Hummel figurines. It was one of her more quaint quirks.

Hummel figurines are a bit more pricey and recognized as a "collectible" .... I really AM trying to stay out of that "collectible" mentality and am trying to downsize and minimize and only keep close to me the things I love. Unfortunately I love so many things... I have a children's lamp that features this type of wooden figure. I guess that might be why I like them. Also I once had a switchplate in my childhood bedroom with humpty dumpty done in this style. It's silly to want something for those reasons... They say the reason people like antiques so much is the way they stir the memories of something from the past, another era, a childhood or a happy time in one's life. I guess that makes sense to me.
