My Midwestern Mix discs have been some of my favorites and an inspiration for me to try to create my own. So, here are 20 songs eclectically collected by me for you. If you'd like a copy of the disc let me know via email or in the comments and I'll get one off to you.. just because it's summer and that is a great time for melding memories and music.

P.S. I know there are TWO Shins songs on there and I tried to resist but I just got Boomerang Baby and it's great and it's actually a cover of a T. Rex song so I hope that still means the perfect blend. I think so.

I thought of The Outdoor Type last weekend when the other 3 were dragging me round REI, some outdoorsy store in Seattle. Just not excited about kayaks and crampons...

Carm - this is a generous offer. I just wanted to say hi, but if you're up for it - I would take one. I thought of playing some of these for the kiddos. I don't think they've ever heard "I got you babe." I've been thinking about the writer's conference this fall. I think I want to go this year - we should connect again. Are you still writing locally for that magazine in Grand Forks? jN

Hey, Emma... love the video clip. What a hoot. I really get a kick out of that film too. I am not really the outdoor type either... I need my green grass and nature but I know my limits!

Sara and Jennifer... I have your cds burned and ready to pop into the mail. To speed the process for me, could you send me your mailing address via email?

Sara, I know...I've asked for this address, like a million times... I just never have it handy when I need it.

And Jennifer, If you come to the conference this fall, you are always welcome to stay with me. I AM still writing for the women's magazine.
